In Short: Basshead on a budget? Here is your new toy.

Quick overview:

The goal of the XB series is to bombard the listener with bass and in addition to huge quantities of bass, it maintains surprisingly good quality all the way down to the lowest frequencies. It is not the cleanest or most precise bass out there, but Sony did a pretty good job considering how much there is to contain. Mids and treble are recessed but an equalizer can help bring them out. The great thing about the XB500 is that it sits nicely at the $50 price point where you won’t feel guilty buying them as a second pair of “fun” headphones for your upbeat music. It does leak at high volumes because of their vented design but at normal listening volumes this is not an issue. They are also extremely comfortable thanks to the low clamping force and maximum-fluffiness pads. The XB500 is very highly recommended if you are looking for some affordable bass cannons.
