Plantronics upgrades the BackBeat Go: multi-device pairing, six-month standby

| July 23, 2013 | 0 Comments

A little over a year ago, Plantronics introduced the BackBeat Go, a pair of wireless in-ear headphones with a daring new form factor. Today, we see the introduction of the BackBeat Go 2 which sports several significant upgrades yet a lower price tag than the original had at launch ($80 down from $100).

The most eye-catching new spec is DeepSleep mode, which allow for up to six months of standby time. This mode activates when the headphones lose pairing with your device(s). Speaking of pairing… the BackBeat Go 2 allows pairing up to 8 devices (the original only allowed 1 at a time). Optional is the $20 microUSB charging case pictured above which can recharge the headphones 2 1/2 times from a single charge (estimated 4.5 listening hours on a single charge). Last but not least, the sound has been improved after some tweaks to the internals.

You can order the BackBeat Go 2 through the Plantronics website or a variety of retailers.

Is 2013 the year to take the dive into wireless earbuds?
