Koss debuts the budget KEB15i in-ears

| February 22, 2014 | 2 Comments

Last week, Koss posted a subliminal marketing video for a new product. Our guess was that it would be an on-the-ear headphone similar to the Sennheiser HD-25, but we couldn’t have been more wrong.

The KEB15i is an in-ear headset that comes in a multitude of colors: teal, gray, blue, purple, and red. What’s cool is that these colors also apply to the cable, so they are definitely attention-getters despite the low price of $14.99.

Koss advertises the following features for the KEB15i:

  • Noise-isolating in-ear headphones
  • Angled element for the perfect fit
  • Includes three cushion sizes
  • In-line microphone with push-to-talk button
  • Works with the iPhoneĀ® and other smartphones with a 3.5mm jack
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

As with many other Koss products, the KEB15i comes with a limited lifetime warranty which I think is huge. Most cheap headphones are not reliable in terms of build quality, and must be replaced every couple years. With the KEB15i if anything happens, you can just send them back to Koss in a cheap bubble envelope and Koss will fix or replace them.

The video below explains how Koss engineers designed the headphone, particularly in terms of fit. Turns out that all the references to angles in that subliminal video had to do with the angled speaker and the angled back plate.

Having only been released a few days ago (Feb 18th), has anyone already pulled the trigger on these?

Ordered a set as soon as I got the email but I don’t think they’ve shipped yet. Hoping the sound better than the spark plugs which are comfortable but sound awful.

    Hi Joel,
Any feedback on the sound quality of these earbuds?
